Opel recalls Zafira models after fire incidents.

There have been over 130 fires in Zafira cars in Britain and nine in Ireland. All are believed to have started behind the dashboard and are related to a manual air conditioning unit or the heating system. The model affected is the Zafira B model sold between 2005 and 2015.

Opel is not describing this latest move as a recall but it amounts to one. An Opel Ireland spokesperson told RTE Motoring that all components behind the dashboard of the cars recalled will be examined and any suspect part replaced without charge.

Opel is working with the Vehicle Registration Office to contact all owners and will write to customers in due course. In the meantime, any owner affected by the recall can just contact their local dealer.
