The Audi Q3 has launched in Ireland, and prices start from €34,650 on the road for the 2-litre TDi 140bhp SE.

This version is expected to be the big seller.

Four engines are available from launch – two diesels and two petrols.

Power ranges from 140-211bhp, so there is a Q3 to suit all tastes.

When we first drove the car we were impressed by how instantly likeable the Q3 is.

Reflecting the trend towards more economical cars, the two-wheel drive-only 2-litre will be popular thanks to its frugality – 54mpg on average is possible.

Andrew Doyle, Managing Director, Audi Ireland, said: "The Audi Q3 is a premium SUV offering all the benefits of Audi's DNA in a more compact form.

"It is of course sporty, yet extremely efficient and versatile – a perfect mix of vehicle at the right time in the Irish market.

"The Q3 showcases Audi's expertise in all aspects of engineering: from its lightweight body through strong and efficient drive trains and a dynamic chassis to its state-of-the-art assistance systems and multimedia systems.

"Customise your Q3 with Audi's legendary quattro® permanent four-wheel drive transmission and you can enjoy uninterrupted Audi driving as the snow falls this coming winter!

"We are delighted to introduce the newest member of the highly successful Q family to the Irish market."
