Nissan's electric car the Leaf is set to hit the road.
Orders will be taken at Nissan dealerships from this July.
Leaf goes on sale at a list price of €34,995, but this is then reduced to €29,995 after the Government subsidy is included.
The price includes the batteries.
Very strong residual values are being projected for the first really practical electric car.
As of this week a projected 31 out of 47 dealers want the Leaf franchise.
The final dealer network will be announced closer to 12 July when the car goes live, so to speak.
Customer deliveries will start in February 2011.
It's gearing up to be a busy time at Nissan as the Japanese firm will launch the new and very cool looking Juke in September and the long-awaited Micra in October.
A new Murano and X-Trail will be launched in Ireland in November/December.
