Powershift is the Swedish giant’s take on VW’s DSG automated manual transmission.
It has two clutches and pre-engages the next gear while driving the gear already selected.
On a test in Denmark last week I tried out the box in a C30 and was very impressed. The box is smooth and economical when used in either fully automatic mode or when shifting via the gear lever manually.
Powershift will find its way in the coming months into the smaller Volvos e.g. C30, S40 and V50.
