St Brigid's Day: How to celebrate the patron saint this weekend

From live music in Wexford, to cross-making workshops in Limerick, to storytelling nights in Belfast, there are many ways to celebrate Saint Brigid across Ireland this weekend.

Wexford is set to launch a major new cultural festival with the inaugural WexTrad Weekend, taking place across the St Brigid's bank holiday from 29 January to 2 February. The weekend opens with a standout revival of the Wexford Mummers Ball at the Talbot Hotel on Thursday, bringing mummers' groups from across the county together for an evening of folklore, masks, music and céilí dancing. Cross Making Workshop in Limerick

Lough Gur Visitor Centre and Lakeshore Park in Limerick is hosting a series of cross-making workshops to celebrate the arrival of Spring. Using local reeds to discover the story of Brigid's cross, this will be fun for all of the family. Attendees will receive complementary tea, coffee or hot chocolate with their ticket. Celebrating St Brigid's Birthplace in Louth

As Ireland marks St Brigid's Day on 1 February, County Louth is inviting people to celebrate the saint in the place where her story begins: Faughart, just outside Dundalk, where she was born. Brigid’s legacy will be brought to life through light, music, ritual and community. Highlights include a medieval-style candlelit procession in Faughart, the stunning Northern Lights installation in Dundalk, Féile na Tána traditional music festival on the Cooley Peninsula, and guided walks through Brigid’s sacred landscape. Brigid's Day Yoga & Soundbath in Ennis, Co. Clare

Imbolc is a time for new beginnings. End January on the right note by taking part in a magical evening of slow flow yoga, guided meditation and a soundbath by candlelight, where you will be guided to reconnect with your inner wisdom and plant the seeds of intention for growth and renewal. Dublin’s Saint Brigit Parade

The Brigit Parade returns to Dublin on Sunday, 1 February, as part of Brigit: Dublin City Celebrating Women, transforming Dublin into a vibrant city-wide celebration of women's strength, creativity, and resilience. Beginning at the top of Capel Street at 3.30pm, the parade will journey through Dublin’s historic streets, with puppetry, dance, music, ritual performance and community participation. Storytelling Evening in Belfast

Hearth Ireland is hosting a panel event with four creative Northern Irish women to celebrate St Brigid's Day. Taking place in the Dark Horse, there will be storytelling, song, conversation, and craic on Sunday, 1 February from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm. Click here for moe info.

The Brigid 2026 | Spirit of Kildare Festival is a county-wide celebration that invites locals and visitors to experience Kildare's creativity, culture, and community spirit. Brigid's Ecstatic Dance in Galway

The Gort Movement Collective is hosting a sober night of music, movement, ritual and play on Friday, 30 January.
