Things to do in Dublin this weekend (September 5-7)

The kids are back to school, we're losing the long stretch in the evening, and things are getting chilly again, but that doesn't mean we have to stay on the couch. From sea swims and hot coffees to authentic Italian cooking, there is plenty to enjoy in the capital this weekend.

Dublin Fringe Festival

Established in 1995, Dublin Fringe Festival is a multi-disciplinary arts festival promoting artists in the world of comedy, drag, dance, cabaret, live music, circus, and much more. Running from Thursday, 4 September to Sunday, 21 September, there will be something to suit every taste.

Nonna's Kitchen

Enjoy an afternoon of authentic Italian cooking, stories and flavour in Dublin 8 this weekend. Taking place in Opium, 13-14 Liberty Lane, this over-18s, two-hour experience with Monica & Daniela Venturi will be a celebration of food and tradition. Tickets cost €22.42, and include two pints* of Birra Moretti L'Autentica, a meet and greet with the Nonnas from Bologna, an Italian aperitivo, and a gift bag.

SISTERLY x Cocobrew Sea Swim at The Forty Foot

On Sunday, 7 September, from 9am - 10:30am, SISTERLY is hosting a group sea swim at The Forty Foot, followed by coffee and treats supplied by Cocobrew. This event is free, but donations for the NMH Foundation, which supports Holles Street, are welcome. Tickets available on Eventbrite.

Howth Maritime Festival 2025

Set in the picturesque village of Howth from 6-7 September, the Howth Maritime Festival will be supporting local businesses through free family fun and plenty of live music. Whether you're a seafood connoisseur or a family looking for a fun day out, there will be something for everyone. Running from 12-6pm daily.

Basic Talks with Maser

Basic Talks is a series of talks with leading contemporary practitioners, taking place at the Hugh Lane Gallery. On Friday, 5 September, from 1 - 2pm, Dublin-born artist Maser, who first made his mark in the graffiti scene in 1995, will be speaking on his journey from street art to global acclaim. Tickets are free at Eventbrite.
