When the entire First Dates restaurant staff does a double take as you walk in, you know you're a knock out.

This was the case for "100 per cent flirt" Minnie from Cork, one of the hopeful romantics on tonight's First Dates episode, who came looking for someone who "isn't intimidated" by her - and who looks like Brad Pitt, with blond hair and blue eyes.

"It's really hard to date at my age", the 30-year-old nurse and singer told producers. "Either they're out of a really long relationship or they're just not ready to settle down."

Far from just a casual fling, she said she was looking for someone who will give her a reason to wear all her beautiful dresses, but more importantly, "to be with somebody".

Minnie and Chris

Enter full-time fitness coach Chris, who was looking for a confident, attractive date who doesn't feel she has to dull her sparkle.

Conversation was flowing from the beginning, no doubt helped by Chris's fair tresses and blue eyes, and the pair fell into easy banter and chatting about their upbringing. Pretty soon, they were talking about where they picture themselves in the future, with Minnie saying she wants to travel but dreams of coming home to Cork to live in her family house.

Minnie told Chris how close she is to her dad, saying they're like "yin and yang" - and for a very good reason.

"I come from a very broken family", she said. "My biological parents, I never got to know that side. I'm adopted to an Irish family." She explained that is from South Africa and moved at an early age.

"I came to Ireland when I was like, eight years old to build a relationship with a biological mother that I'd never met before and I was supposed to meet them when I come here. And when I came here they didn't come to the airport to collect me."

Speaking to the producers, she added: "I was in foster for a very long time. I was very very stubborn as well, you know? I didn't want to settle down with any family or anyone to adopt me."

Eventually, though, Minnie found her "perfect family" and has been with them ever since, but it didn't come without challenges: she recalls that she was "rebellious" and would run away from her adoptive family. Now, her feet are planted - aside from wanting to travel the world before settling in Cork!

Chris opened up about his family too, particularly how his mum set him on the path of health and fitness due to a childhood illness.

Chris

Chris was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis when he was young, and credits his mum with not only bolstering his health, but also his love of fitness as she'd enrolled him in every sport going. At the time of his diagnosis, the future seemed bleak: Chris was told he'd be in hospital almost constantly, and the life expectancy could be just 30.

"It took a lot of mental strength for mum to be like, okay, we're going to push the boat out and see rather than just accept that."

By the time the bill arrived to their table, the pair had already talked about their relationship goals: marriage, family, the lot. Chris revealed that while he didn't have kids himself, his ex had children and he was a part of their lives for a while - something he misses. He said that what he wants now is to start "building a life together".

"Cheers to that", Minnie said, and with a clink of their drinks, it looked like a match was made.

Unsurprisingly, then, months after their encounter on First Dates, Minnie and Chris were still keeping the romance going.
