From free art exhibitions in One Charlemont Square, to tea dances in Portobello's community hall, there is plenty to be doing in the capital this weekend.
Gormley's Gallery is bringing artistic icons to One Charlemont Square as one of Ireland's largest art and sculpture exhibition returns for a second year. Banksy, Tracey Emin, Damien Hirst, Andy Warhol, Salvador Dali, Bridget Riley and Julian Opie will be showcased alongside leading and emerging Irish artists. The exhibition runs from 26 September- 17 October and entry is free.
Portobello Community Hall will play host to an afternoon Tea Dance complete with sandwiches and live music this coming Sunday. From 2pm - 4pm, the free event will be open to all ages and is a great opportunity for those in the area to become closer with their community as well as a chance to throw some shapes on the dancefloor.
Night Watch: Romantic Choral Music from Vienna
Led by Grammy-winning conductor Paul Hillier, Ireland's national chamber choir will explore the beauty of the nocturnal world in a programme of romantic choral music from Vienna. Taking place on Saturday, 28 September, in the Pepper Canister Church in Dublin 2, the show will run from 6:30pm- 7:30pm. Tickets range from €5-€20.
Dublin's Bag of Cats improv group is putting on a charity event on Friday, 27 September, in Dun Laoghaire's Board and Brewed. The two hour event will kick off at 8pm and will feature improv, standup, sketch shows, and variety acts. Tickets cost €8 (€5.50 for those unwaged) and all money raised goes to charity.
Artists of Note: Creativity Workshop
Join Irish artist Lauren Lee for a creative session through music and fragrance. With a specially curated playlist and signature fragrances to spark your creativity, this in-store event in Molton Brown, Dundrum, will help you learn more about the art of perfumery, and the famous artists who reimagined some of our more popular fragrances. Supplies, drinks and snacks will be provided- all you need to bring is your imagination. Tickets cost €20.
Dublin's only Sober Oktoberfest is set to take place in Board - a non-alcoholic bar filled with board games and pizza. Running from 27 September - 26 October, the event will kick off at 4pm with classic Bavarian events including stein holding and blind (non-alchoholic) beer tasting as well as live music, quizzes and much more. Tickets cost €5 per person and includes one drink token for selected drinks.
