Brian Dowling and Arthur Gourounlian on gearing up for baby number two

When it comes to power couples, few do it as stylishly as Brian Dowling and Arthur Gourounlian.

The dazzling duo have long stunned with their outfits at events, and when they took to the red carpet at the VIP Style Awards this weekend, their personal tastes were firmly on show.

Arthur, the then-reigning Most Stylish Man and dressed in a teal suit and wearing a tie for the first time in 15 years, was gearing up to pass the crown to the next winner.

"And we are hoping the next winner is me", Brian told RTE Lifestyle. "I am a nominee." Though Arthur was quick to joke that if it's simply moving from one of their heads to the other, "We're gonna share that!"

"If it goes to the same house we really don't care", Brian agreed. And as luck would have it, the presenter did indeed go home with the coveted award!

Wearing a black and gold Twisted Tailor suit he's had for ages, his own black bow tie from his wedding and his new Christian Louboutin shoes - gifted by Arthur for Christmas and "really uncomfortable" - Brian was certainly standing out in the crowd.

As for whether or not they coordinate outfits on the night, the pair were at odds in their approach.

"Arthur knew I was wearing this for ages and I said to him this morning when I left to do 98fm, I said what are you wearing tonight? And he said, I'm not sure yet", Brian said.

"It was a surprise", Arthur noted, impishly. "I didn't want to coordinate. It's good to give our individuality." As a judge on Dancing With the Stars, Arthur is used to standing out, though for the night he opted for a more "demure" look, with none of his typical jewellery.

The pair are gearing up for a busy summer as they prepare to welcome their second child in early July, and told RTE Lifestyle they are both feeling "very excited".

"I feel like with baby number two you're less kind of prepared and organised", Brian said. "I remember with Blake we were really organised, but I spoke to loads of people who have more than one kid and they were like, oh, you're like that with number two. Like, you've done it before. What's the worst that could happen?"

When asked how they think Blake will adjust to being a big sister, Arthur was, of course, full of confidence in their little girl.

"I think she will handle [it] well because she's very good, every baby she sees she's like, shh, baby, shh. I think she'll be great, but you never know until the baby arrives. Maybe she'll be jealous, maybe not, but I think maybe she'll be okay."

Though the pair certainly know what they're getting into and starting prepping her early, Brian explained.

"Santy gifted her a doll, cleverly, so we're always saying to her, shh, the baba. Be nice. She used to carry the doll by the leg and the foot, but now she's way more gentle."

"She's feeding the baby now, which is very good!" Arthur added.
