Now that the clocks have sprang forward, and the highly-anticipated grand stretch has arrived, it's time to start getting the most out of our weekends.
Here are just a few of the interesting and unusual activities taking place in Dublin this weekend (April 5-7).
Taking place in the National Sports Arena, on the Sports Ireland Campus in Dublin 15, the 2024 Dive Expo is set to run from April 6-7. Hosted by Coolmine's local dive club, Vikings SAC, the dive and watersports show will feature information on freediving, paddle-boarding, snorkeling, ocean photography and much more.
The impressive line-up includes a chilly Wim Hof Method workshop, a fascinating talk from deep-wreck photographer Barry McGill, and a presentation from Ireland's own deep-sea expert, Rory Golden, detailing his expeditions of the Titanic and the recovery of Apollo 11 space rocket engines.
Whether you're a seasoned diver or a curious sea-swimmer, this will be a fantastic event to attend. Tickets range from €15-€20, with some tickets available at the door.

2. Introduction to Furniture Upholstery
Curious about furniture upholstery? Join Nessa Doran O'Reilly at the Rediscovery Centre and get a firsthand look at how it's done.
Nessa holds a BA in Furniture Design and Technology in Dublin, as well as two Master degrees from Buckinghamshire New University's High Wycombe, in both Furniture Design and Conservation Restoration of Furniture and Decorative Arts. She will breathe new life into furniture and guide ticket holders through the basics, with plenty of room for questions.
The workshop takes place in The Rediscovery Centre at The Boilerhouse in Ballymun on Saturday, April 6. Tickets cost €35.

Hosted by Alternative Dublin, this neon painting class is set to take place in Pawn Shop on Dame Street on Friday, April 5.
This two-hour event is suitable for those aged 18 and over as a bar will be open on the night. Ticket holders will be brought through a step-by-step guide to creating a neon masterpiece under UV Lights while playing some great tunes. There will be prizes on the night and tickets cost €29.93.

4. Slán Solas x Megan Nic Ruairí
Hosted by Brazillian yoga instructor Allan Müller, Slán Solas events bring attendees into nature for a 'sundown reset'. On Saturday, April 7, the group will head to the Witch's Hat at the top of Killiney Hill to enjoy a breathwork session that has been carefully designed to "reset your nervous system".
The weekend's session will also feature a performance from Irish singer Megan Nic Ruairi. All you need is something comfy to sit on and extra layers to keep you warm. Feel free to bring your favorite snacks and beverages for a communal picnic before or after the session.
This event is donation-based and this trip will support Breast Cancer Ireland. Donations above €7 will enter you into a draw for some fun prizes - even if you cant make it to the event. If you don't drive, a bus will be leaving 777 restaurant from George Street.

Founded by children's nurse Karen Prunty, Little Roo is a parent and baby hub that aims to build a village of support for families. The space provides first aid courses and antenatal classes as well as music and dance classes for little ones.
On Sunday, Apr 7, Little Roo will host a pre-loved baby items sale in aid of Palestine. Kicking off at 11am at 6 Temple Road, Blackrock, the day of shopping will feature gently-used or new items suitable for children up to the age of five. Browse through a wide selection of preloved baby clothes, toys, gear, and more.
There will be refreshments, baked goods and face painting for little ones as well as raffle with over 25 prizes. All proceeds go towards raising vital funds for the Gaza, with funds raised will be split between GPCI (Gaza Paediatric Care initiative) and MSF (Médecins Sans Frontières).

6. Kidsyard Family Rave at The Lighthouse
Are you ready to rave? On Sunday, April 7, The Lighthouse in Dun Laoghaire will be hosting an afternoon rave complete with glowsticks, crafts, face paint, bubbles and parachute games.
This is an inclusive family experience where parents can have 'just as much fun as their kids'. Presented by Bodytonic, old ravers can relive their youth with their little ones on the dance floor.
Adult tickets cost €10, children's tickets cost €5, and kids under 12 months go free of charge.

The Dublin Burlesque Festival is back for another weekend full fabulous performances, with both Irish and international stars set to take to the stage of The Sugar Club on April 5 and 6.
The wonderful world of cabaret, dance, mayhem and mystery will feature competitions on both Friday and Saturday night. The evenings will be hosted by the brilliant Dusty and each night will kick off with a performance from Miss Betsy Rose.
Ticket prices vary from €20.80 to €46.35 depending on admission type. Seating is first come, first served.

You may have heard of speed dating, but what about speed friending? Taking place at The Clockwork Door on Dublin's Wellington Quay, on April 6 at 3pm, this super social event will see individuals guided to various tables, giving them the opportunity to interact with as many attendees as possible.
Upon arrival, ticket holders will receive a numbered badge and a list of thought-provoking questions to spark conversations and forge meaningful connections. Secure your spot now for €12 or €20 for two people. This fee covers the entirety of the three-hour event and includes drinks and snacks to keep you refreshed throughout.

Taking place in The George - the country's most iconic gay bar - Queen of the Warriors is an annual fundraiser held by the Emerald Warriors Rugby Football Club.
The event sees nine fierce and fabulous Queens compete for the crowd's affection and the highly coveted crown. This extravaganza will feature individual performances, along with a series of group numbers including a special half-time display from the Azure Kings.
Audience members will be asked to vote for their winner to decide the top two Queens who will go on to, as RuPaul would say, lip sync for their LIVES!
Tickets are priced at €25 each, which includes a free drink on the night*.
