Home of the Year has returned to our screens with a fresh batch of stunning houses and creative homeowners.
Now in its tenth season, the beloved show champions homes that are filled with personality as well as ingenuity. Tonight's episode celebrated the individuality of each featured property, with judges Hugh Wallace, Amanda Bone and Sara Cosgrove passionately debating over the highs and lows of the first three houses.
As always, the show will span the length and breadth of the country, offering an endless amount of home inspiration, from small fixer-uppers to new builds and everything in between.
Tonight's episode featured a 1930's renovated bungalow in Dublin, an historic Georgian Rectory in county Derry and a self-build in Cork.
Kieran and Olivia McDaid, Derry
Olivia and Kieran live in a historic Georgian Rectory in Co. Derry with their young daughter and Luna, the family dog.
Built in 1774, they purchased the Rectory in 2020. The building had been in use by the Church of Ireland since 1774 and by the time Kieran and Olivia got their hands on it, it was still in relatively good condition. They replaced some flooring ceilings on the ground floor and breathed new life into the interior.
The couple were heavily inspired by their travels and filled their family home with an eclectic mix of period pieces and items from abroad. They love the architecture, period features and high ceilings throughout their home and feel that these features lend themselves well to their bold and beautiful sense of style.
Yann Leroy and Betty Lavy, Dublin
Yann and Betty live in a 1930's renovated bungalow in Dublin with their teenage son.
The couple bought the property in 2021 and set about fully refurnishing the interior and exterior.
The homeowners have a passion for interior design and have created a luxury feel, accented with black and gold finishes throughout to tie the home together. They believe that their home is a testament to their own personal style and creativity.
They love the unique style throughout the home and the functionality of each area and are proud of the level of detail they’ve achieved throughout their bungalow.
Aoife Culliton and Kristian Fisher, Cork
Aoife and Kristian live in their self-build home in Co. Cork with their two young children.
The couple had always wanted to build their own home and after finding their site, they started the building process, completing it in 2022. Aoife and Kristian used 3D house modelling software to design their home, getting guidance along the way from Kristian's dad, David, who is in the building industry.
Aoife and Kristian were involved in every aspect of the process and describe their style as "modern industrial", which is reflected in the black steel trims and warm wood accents throughout. They love the individuality and uniqueness of their home especially the mezzanine area.
The family love that their home has great open plan living but still maintains places to retreat to if you need some peace and quiet.
