On November 7, the Glamour Women of the Year awards honored some of the most impressive and visionary women of 2023.

The annual awards are dedicated to celebrating the successes and progress made by women across a variety of fields.

This year's ceremony honoured a number of impressive women including activists and entertainers Quinta Brunson, Brooke Shields, Mary J. Blige, Selma Blair, as well as global honourees America Ferreira and Millie Bobby Brown.

Taking place in Manhattan's Lincoln Centre, US Editor-In-Chief Samantha Barry (a West Cork native) made the red carpet all the more impressive by asking attendees to wear the work of female designers.

Selma Blair, who was diagnosed with MS since 2018, was honored with the night's Daring to Disrupt Award.

Combining her love of fashion and activism, the Legally Blonde star signed on as chief creative officer of Guide Beauty in 2022, with the aim of creating accessible beauty tools.

Speaking at the awards she said: "It's been an amazing journey because now I have come to think of disability as an olive tree whose branches extend to find a light in each other, to offer peace and hope and healing. Disability crosses all divides. It knows no borders. It is part of being alive, a great peace offering. If we are blessed enough to age, we all become disabled…. It is my great honor to be part of a community of women who disrupt everyday."

On the red carpet, Blair wore a cardigan with the names of several prominent disability activists embroidered on it, including Irish writer, academic, and activist Sinéad Burke.
