This week on Today with Maura and Dáithí, Alice Culbert was welcomed onto the show for some time with the glam squad.
Born and bred in Limerick City, with three brothers and nine sisters, Alice has a life filled to the brim with family activity.
Married to John for 45-years, they had three children, Peter, John, and their youngest, Vivienne. Sadly, their middle boy, John, was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma and passed away nine years ago, leaving a broken-hearted family behind him, including a wife and baby son.
Now with nine grandchildren to keep them busy, John and Alice are always ready to take on a challenge and live life to the full. About 10 years ago, Alice headed for Nepal and climbed Everest, getting all the way up to 14,000 feet. An exceptional feat by any standards.
Recently, Alice retired from her gig on Life 95 radio where she gave the weekly update on all the soaps.
At 65 years of age, and managing heart disease and arthritis, the mind has ambitions, she told the Today team, but sometimes the body says no.
Despite tackling Everest, Alice insists she can't face the shops and struggles to commit to any particular style with her wardrobe. To help her on her way, her sister Marion nominated her for a gorgeous makeover.
With Mark Rodgers on make-up, Pamela Morrissey on hair, and stylist Fiona Hayes on the wardrobe, the team worked to find Alice's inner Stevie Nicks.
Speaking on her new look, she said: "This is the new me and I intend to live my life now that I am looking on the outside, how I feel on the inside".
