Vogue Williams on marriage, alcohol, and haunted Ireland

Despite sharing not only a family but a hit podcast with husband Spencer Matthews, Vogue Williams has been candid about the importance of spending time away from your partner.

The presenter, model and DJ joined the Jennifer Zamparelli show to discuss her latest project, Spooked Ireland, as well as her love for home, why she's not a fan of drinking, and the secret to her loving marriage. Listen back above.

Currently in Ireland for a series of shows with Matthews in the 3Olympia Theatre in Dublin, Vogue said that her hubby is lapping up both the attention and the Irish landscape.

"He's really enjoying it. You can't not like it, it's such a difference to London, it's a slower pace of life, I just feel more relaxed back here and it's nice to have the contrast of the two."

When asked if the couple ever tire of spending so much time together, particularly when work is involved, Vogue said that spending time apart has become part of their norm.

"We do spend decent amounts of time apart and we have separate friends as well, and I think that's really important", she said.

"We love spending loads of time together, we just do. I'm one of those people, I never want to be on my own ever, which is probably annoying for Joanne who likes to be on her own sometimes. I'm just like, 'we're sharing a dressing room!'"

Jen, no doubt like countless of Vogue's followers, marvelled at how rock solid her relationship with Matthews is, and asked what the secret to their marriage is?

"Don't be inspired, we all have our fights, I just don't put them on social media. I just had a fight with him this morning, it's grand!" Vogue laughed.

"We genuinely just enjoy each other's company and we like spending time together and we're interested in the same things. We both like doing sports, we both like playing tennis", she said, adding that their interests align well.

One interest that they agree on is drinking, as Matthews is sober and owns his own non-alcoholic beverage company, and Vogue said she has never been a fan of drinking herself.

"I'm not really able for it. I get the fear really easily. I try and not drink too often", she said.

"I actually just don't like the taste of it. I've never liked the taste of alcohol so it kind of works well for me that I'd never think of going home and being like, I'm going to have a glass of wine because I'd rather go home and have a glass of milk and that's genuinely what I would prefer to do."

Adding to her growing list of projects, the Howth native is at the helm of Spooked Ireland, a thrilling new show on digital channel, Really, that also gave her another excuse to celebrate the beauty of Ireland.

While she said she is "still looking to find a ghost" herself, she came away from filming suitably spooked every night.

"Every time I went home from doing that show I was so terrified. I used to sleep with the lights on in the hotel room and just be like, Please god, let me go home, I hate it so much."

"You can go to these places yourself and learning all the history about the places we went to was amazing. Ireland looks so incredible in the show."

It sounds like the star never misses an opportunity to spend time in her home country, despite her house here going sale agreed in recent months. Is she planning a permanent move across the pond?

"I most definitely haven't cut ties but there is a sale agreed sign outside my house at the moment but we're still going through everything", she said.

"It's actually to spend more time here. I'm looking at somewhere else around the area. You know yourself, you'd never leave Howth."
