Shrieks of joy could be heard around the world when the news dropped that Kim Cattrall would be reprising her role of Samantha Jones in the second season of Sex and the City spin-off, And Just Like That...

Cattrall's character was a key player of the fabulous foursome - with viewers often arguing whether they were a Samatha, Charlotte, Carrie, or Miranda - and her absence in the reboot has been glaring to die-hard fans of the long-running series and movies.

Thankfully, it has been revealed that the actress agreed to return to the popular show on the condition she could bring back legendary SATC stylist Patricia Field.

While rumours of a rift between Cattrall and co-star Sarah Jessica Parker have run rampant in the media, Cattrall told journalists that she simply believed that the story had run its course, and told The Guardian that she didn't want to be in a situation "for even an hour" where she wasn't enjoying herself.

"I also didn't want to compromise what the show was to me. The way forward seemed clear," Cattrall said in an interview with Variety.

"I was never asked to be part of the reboot. I made my feelings clear after the possible third movie, so I found out about it like everyone else did - on social media."

Speaking on The Hollywood Reporter's Award Chatter podcast, Parker simply stated that Cattrall wasn't asked as they already knew the answer.

"We did not ask her to be part of this because she made it clear that that wasn't something she wanted to pursue, and it no longer felt comfortable for us, and so it didn't occur to us."

The absence of Samantha in the first season of And Just Like That... was explained by a friendship fallout and a career move to London, with the character appearing through gestures of flowers and text messages.

Now, happily, it has been revealed that Cattrall will appear in the second series And Just Like That...- if only for a brief cameo.

While making an appearance on The View, Cattrall said that she received a call from the head of the studio and accepted the invite under certain conditions.

"It's very interesting to get a call from the head of HBO saying, 'What can we do?’ And I went, ‘Hmm…,'" Cattrall said. "Let me get creative, and one of those things was to get Pat Field back because I just thought that if I’m going to come back I gotta come back with that Samantha style, I gotta push it and we did."

"She knows my body really well," the actress quipped. "We spend a lot of time together, me clothed and unclothed, and she knows what's right for the character; she's always studying the script. I admire her so much. She really changed how everybody, all of us, really dress."

The Emmy-winning Costume Designer and Stylist is known for the SATC outfits still spoken about by fans today, as well as her work on hit shows like Ugly Betty, Emily in Paris, and Cattrall's recent Netflix show Glamorous, not to mention her work on The Devil Wears Prada, which earned her an Oscar nod in 2007.

The 81-year-old told Harpers Bazaar that she didn't work on the first season of the reboot due to conflicting schedules, but recommended Stylist Molly Rogers to work in her stead.

"The main reason was a time conflict," she said. "I wasn't able to be in New York doing that and be in Paris doing Emily in Paris. But I told them to call my very dear friend Molly Rogers, who also worked in my store back in the day. She did Sex and the City with me from start to finish. She knew it well so she’s doing it. My dance card was full."

Now fans are eagerly awaiting the reappearance of Samantha's glamour on their television screens.
