The RTÉ Guide's Christmas issue is a festive staple in households across Ireland, and this year's cover is another winner.
The annual Christmas RTÉ Guide, a much-loved Irish festive tradition, lands on shelves across the country from today Monday, December 12th.
This year's cover is illustrated by award-winning Irish illustrator Annie West, who has worked on RTÉ Guide Christmas covers in the past. Annie specialises in highly detailed pen and ink drawings, with the emphasis on detail.
This jam-packed cover is all about the small details, and was inspired by the prospect of full and vibrant Christmases finally taking place around the country this year, as we can all finally be reunited and back together to celebrate a 'proper’ Irish Christmas at home.
A big part of that is, of course, many, many guests!
And just in case Annie hasn’t packed in enough guests on the cover (she did!) there are more surprise guests waiting inside the bumper edition. Inside you can meet Andrea Boccelli and his family; Tom Hanks; MasterChef’s newest judge Dubliner Anna Haugh; Brendan and Jenny O’Carroll; Jennifer Zamparelli; Tommy Tiernan and Daniel Craig – to mention just a few.
There’s also a wonderful original short story from children’s author Judi Curtain; plus the necessary and legendary festive TV and film planners, competitions, puzzles and lots, lots more. Get that highlighter out of the drawer, its moment has come!
We can only hope that it will follow in the footsteps of the Guide's award-winning Christmas 2015 cover which featured a host of RTÉ stars including Ryan Tubridy, Marty Morrissey, and Neven Maguire.
The Mrs. Brown's Boys inspired cover won Cover of the Year at the 2016 Irish Magazine Awards. Editor Catherine Lee was "absolutely delighted" to accept the honour at Dublin City Hall.
