Nationwide: Director John Boorman on protecting and documenting the trees of Wicklow

It was post-production on at film at Ardmore Studios in Bray that first brought British Director John Boorman to Ireland for the first time over 50 years ago.

He soon made the peaceful surroundings of Co. Wicklow his home, using it as a refuge from his hectic life in film-making.

Although he has enjoyed a successful career creating movies and writing books, these days his attention has turned to caring for the thousands of trees he has planted on his land. Something he is now writing about in a nature diary with the help of his good friend, artist Susan Morley.

The Nationwide team took a trip to see the trees and John himself earlier this year. Watch it back above.
