Wordle, the word-guessing puzzle game, has taken over the world, but in Ireland we have a special place in our hearts and our busy days for Heardle, the musical puzzle game.
In fact, Ireland has just been revealed as the best country for solving the game, where listeners hear a one-second long snippet of a song's intro and try to guess the track within six tries. On each try, you hear more of the song but your final score will be lower as a result.
It's a fun spin on the model now made famous by Wordle, in which players are given six tries to guess a 6-letter word. The game, which was created by Josh Wardle during the pandemic, went viral before being bought by The New York Times.

WordTip, an online puzzle resource, revealed its analysis of the best countries at both Wordle and Heardle, revealing Ireland to be the best at the latter. It stated that Heardle reached 1.75 million daily views within its first three weeks.
The site pulled from geotagged tweets declaring user scores, and revealed that the Irish have a phenomenal average guess score of 1.76 average guesses. With such a strong musical culture running through the country, we can't say we're surprised but we are no doubt pleased and embarrassed by the attention.
In second place is France, with an average guess score of 1.83, while Belgium came in third place with 1.84. The top ten was rounded out by Venezuela (1.87), the UK (1.88), Germany (1.90), Canada (1.93), the US (1.94), Mexico (1.96) and The Netherlands (2.02).
The site also declared Dublin as the best city for solving Heardle, with an average score of 1.73 guesses, followed closely by Nashville in Tennessee, which racked up an average score of 1.74 guesses. Leeds in the UK rounded out the top three best cities for Heardle, with an average score of 1.79 guesses.
Ireland also fares pretty well when it comes to Wordle, racking up an average guess score of 3.87 guesses.
