Webwise (the Irish Internet Safety Awareness Centre) is encouraging families to #TalkListenLearn in order to support children online.
From connecting with friends and creating content to education and remote working, the internet has become an integral part of our daily lives. This technology opens us up to a whole world of incredible information, but the online world also creates challenges.
The #TalkListenLearn campaign encourages parents to have open and regular conversations with their kids about the internet.
Having conversations with your child is one of the most effective ways of ensuring that they have a safe and positive experience, and to help them to feel comfortable coming to you if they encounter an issue.
Here are some handy ways to speak with your kids about online safety:
Topic Generator
For many parents it can be difficult to know where to begin or how to start a conversation. To make things easier, the topic generator serves up a series of open questions that allows families discuss the internet in a safe, open way, free from criticism and judgement.

Teen talking points
Nobody understands the online world of children and teenagers better than young people themselves. Based on their own online experiences, these Talking Points have been co-created by over 100 Irish teenagers to help parents approach the conversation in a way that will encourage your teen to open up about their life online.
