The countdown to Christmas is well and truly in full swing, and with it comes a host of brand new seasonal shows to RTÉ.

The Christmas schedule has just been announced, promising plenty of reasons to curl up in front of the television with your mince pies, Christmas pudding and box(es) of Celebrations. So get the remote ready and set those reminders, here's what to watch on RTÉ this Christmas.

After a thrilling few weeks filled with muck, sweat and extraordinary displays of grit and determination, Ireland's Fittest Family comes to a showstopping close with its most epic finale yet as the final teams take on The Mountain in Kilruddery. With all four families chasing the ultimate title, it's sure to be a nail-biting finish, and which judge will come out victorious?

Because one of life's joys is watching very fit people climb, scramble and swim to glory while you eat a box of chocolates, this December Ireland's Fittest Family will also show two specials.

On 29 December, Grainne Gallanagh, The Happy Pear’s Flynn twins, and comedians Neil Delamere and Sinead Quinlan complete for title of Ireland’s Fittest Family in our celebrity special, with the winner walking away with 10,000 euro for their chosen charity.
