"I had to go and get fitted up for a new nose, Toy Show wise...," the presenter told listeners of The Ryan Tubridy Show on RTÉ Radio 1 this morning.
As always,The Late Late Toy Show's theme is kept under wraps as RTÉ's best-kept secret, right up until the big set reveal.
In previous years, we've seen our whimsical host play Bert from Mary Poppins, Baloo from The Jungle Book, Lumière from Beauty and the Beast, Sebastian from The Little Mermaid, the ringmaster from The Greatest Showman, and Olaf from Frozen - to name but a few.
As for this year? Well, we can only cling to whatever breadcrumbs Tubs deems to sprinkle our way...
"I will have to go again tomorrow to my friends in the make-up department to get fitted up for a few nose," he continued mischievously, "and that's before I go and see Stuart and talk about songs - two songs - and to talk about dancing - two dances - and to talk about getting involved in some very special things that we're doing all around the show that involves filming a little bit here and a little bit there."
"It's very special. You see, what we are doing with the Toy Show this year is, we get the sense... last year there was a sort of darkness in the air, and yet you had to make the colour shine through. This year, the darkness isn't as pronounced."
"If you're wondering where it's going to go, I think it is post-war fun and games and kind of crazy."
"You can expect something pretty, pretty crazy... I was going to use another word there but that would be a give away..."
