The evenings may be getting shorter but things are only getting hotter in Ireland this week as three thirsty young comedians release a risqué calendar upon the nation - and all for a good cause.

In partnership with Dubliner Whiskey, Irish comedians Shane Daniel Byrne, Tony Cantwell, and Killian Sundermann have banded together to raise money for GBN Magazine, taking part in a tantalising photoshoot that is sure to sure to set tongues wagging.

As a well known group of Young Hot Guyz, the trio were an obvious choice for the shoot, but how exactly did this provocative project come about? Well, as is so often true of comedians, it was all in the name of a good joke.

"Shane said it quite well when he said it's sort of a joke that's gone too far," laughs Killian Sundermann.

"Basically, three people who know each other from the internet elaborated on a joke and now it just keeps going, and it just hasn't stopped, and now there's a physical calendar. Who knows where it will end? Maybe we'll end up in government or something, who knows?"

Killian, Tony and Shane each found viral-worthy fame on social media during the pandemic thanks to their popular comedy sketches.

It being a small industry, it didn't take long for the three to become friendly and soon they found themselves joking about being the 'young hot guyz' of comedy - a joke that took them to places they never dreamed of.

Namely being dressed in denim while serving their best Blue Steel.

"Shane had the idea of 90s boy band kind of concept - that was the vibe we were going for. And Billy, the photographer, really went with it and put a collage together of all the different 90s boy bands photo shoots with an insane amount of denim and strong men."

"We don't provide the pecs and abs that they had in those photos," he adds, "but we brought a lot of denim so we came through on that front."

According to Killian, being a 'young hot guy' is much more than being young, hot, or a guy. In fact, if the Dublin man is to be believed, the name is a deceptively simple front for a deeply complex manifesto.

"Young Hot Guyz is an all inclusive organisation," he deadpanned. "You don't have to be young to be a Young Hot Guy. You don't have to be hot to be a Young Hot Guy. You don't have to a guy to be a Young Hot Guy. It's a way of life, you just embrace certain ideals."

"Instead of letting the world decide that you're a Young Hot Guy, you decide it yourself. You take it on. It's not really anyone else's job to say what you look like or what you are, you decide. So, it's quite inspiring. We're breaking all societal structures and boundaries."

With such an inclusive belief system behind this collection of sensuous photos, it's appropriate that all proceeds of the sales will be donated directly to Gay Community News (GCN).

The magazine has been a vital, free-of-charge information service for Ireland's LGBTQ+ community since 1988 and has been a huge force of positivity in countless people’s lives.

"Making people laugh, sexy pictures, and supporting GCN which is a very good magazine for the LGBTQ+ community," Killian surmises.

The Young Hot Guyz charity calendar in aid of GCN Magazine is available on thedld.com for €20.
