Now that the country has started to reopen, people are looking forward to leaving the comfort of their couches and running off steam at the many outdoor, and some indoor, venues and pet farms that are open this month.

As we progress through the summer, we will provide an updated list of things to do around Ireland; whether something to do in your local area or to help plan part of your staycation.

It has been a tough time for everyone over the last few months and our local businesses have never needed your support as much.

1) Wild Ireland | Donegal
Fast becoming one of Ireland's premier tourist destinations, why not take a walk on the wild side on a trip to Donegal. 2) Newgrange Farm | Meath
Set in the shadow of the Newgrange passage tomb, this family friendly farm provides a brilliant day out for all the family. Although everything is easily accessible, there is still plenty of space to relax and enjoy your visit on this popular working farm. Numbers are limited into a morning and afternoon session and tickets must be booked in advance.

3) Castleview Open Farm | Laois
Castleview Open farm is set on 14 acres with an additional two acres of sheds and a farmyard providingmn enough space and activities for a safe and fun-filled day out. There are currently over 100 animals on the farm, some exotic and some more traditional as well as outdoor play grounds, sheltered picnic and seating areas, a maze and even a mini golf course which is included in the entry price. 4) This Girl Laughs, This Girl Cries, This Girl Does Nothing | Online
Triplet sisters are left in the forest by their woodcutter father. 5) Red Mountain Open Farm | Meath
Featuring indoor and outdoor play areas including straw maze, swings, slides, play houses, peddle didi cars and much more which can be overseen by parents while enjoying a takeaway cup of tea or coffee. Reopening for weekends next week through June and then daily over the summer.

6) Ardmore Open Farm & Mini Zoo | Waterford
Located just minutes from the sea-side village of Ardmore in Co. Waterford, this is the perfect place to break free from lockdown. Featuring a new extended walkway, there will be a one-way system around the farm with lot of different animals to see. All outdoor playgrounds are also open with hot food, drinks and ice-cream available too. Booking in advance only.

7) Copper Coast Mini Farm | Waterford
Copper Coast Mini Farm is a family run farm, located in Fenor, Co Waterford, just 10 minutes drive outside of Tramore. Wander along the Farm Walk, visiting with over 100 animals and then play in the playground, sand area, go-kart track or play barn.

8) Clonfert Pet Farm | Kildare
Popular family run farm minutes from Maynooth, Kilcock or Clane they have set-up multiple two-hour daily sessions which are perfect to enjoy all the facilities including access to all areas entry to the farm and animals, use of all outdoor play activities including Bouncy Castle and go-karts.

9) EPIC, The Irish Emigration Museum | Dublin
It is hard to believe they just celebrated their fifth birthday as they have become such a recognisable visitor attraction and have won many awards. At Epic you'll discover that what it means to be Irish expands far beyond the borders of Ireland through the stories of Irish emigrants who became scientists, politicians, poets, artists and even outlaws all over the world. Open daily. Pre-booking advised but walk-ins welcome if space available.

10) Glenroe Open Farm | Wicklow
While operating at a reduced capacity and with safety guidelines in place to ensure animal, staff and visitors wellbeing, a visit to Glenroe Open Farm provides a fun day out in with a pet farm, playgrounds, nature walk and a fairy garden. Open weekends in May and daily in June, tickets must be booked in advance.

11) Mollie Moos | Westmeath
A great place for children to roam and learn about the animals while adults to relax. The farm is fully wheelchair accessible and has a picnic area, crazy golf, go-karts, sandpit and Mooville Interactive Village. Bookings in advance only. Open weekends.

12) Wells House & Gardens | Wexford
Why not enjoy a visit to Wells House and Gardens & enjoy some fresh air and a walk through Mogue's Enchanted Woodland Walk where dragons & wizards bring imagination to life? Pop over to the animal farm and make some new friends or enjoy seeing the gardens come to life for the summer months! Then of course some time in the Adventure Playground makes for a great visit! Open daily, booking online in advance.

13) Castlecomer Discovery Park | Kilkenny
Castlecomer Discovery Park is a not for profit social enterprise, it is a community project with all income generated going directly to keeping the park open. They reopen their activities this weekend with Archery, Canadian Canoes, Pedal Boats, Junior Woodland Adventure Course & Bouncing Nets with the Tree Top Walk reopening on May 29th.

14) Fota Wildlife Park | Cork
As a conservation charity, Fota Wildlife Park is dependent on visitor income, so a trip to the park this summer with not only be an entertaining family day out but help fund improvements in animal facilities, conservation and the visitor’s experience. Operating a one-way system daily through May, tickets are sold-online, seven days in advance.

15) Gruane Pet Farm | Mayo
Graune Pet Farm is an ideal location for fun family days out. The farm itself has a wide range of animals to view and, although the indoor area is currently closed in line with current restrictions, there are plenty of fun outdoor activities for the kids. Open weekends in May and June.

16) Sky Park | Louth
Sky Park are back this weekend offering a place full of different activities including FootGolf, Frisbee Disc Golf, Monster Croquet, Water Wars, Rock Wall, Bungee Trampolines and more. Zip, swing, jump, and climb at SkyPark.

17) Lurgybrack Open Farm | Donegal
Open at weekends, the centuries old farm building is home to a range of friendly farm animals that children visit. There is lots of open space featuring play areas, trampolines, slides, a walk by the riverside and places to enjoy a family picnic.
