On this morning's Jennifer Zamparelli show on 2FM, Lottie Ryan - who recently announced her pregnancy - joined Jen in the studio to chat about coping as a new parent in light of singer Paloma Faith saying she worries about being able to do it all.

Lottie turned to Jen for her opinion on things as the 2fm presenter has two children - Florence (5) and Enzo (3) - with her husband Lau, and has worked in the entertainment industry throughout.

"There has been a narrative that's been very toxic, a very toxic message that has been sent out over the years and that is 'women can have it all'," Jen told her listeners. "It is absolutely impossible. You can have it at different times but not at the same time. Having it all is near impossible and very stressful and exhausting."

"There aren't enough hours in the day to have it all."

The presenter went on to say that she didn't take enough time with her first baby and was leaking breast milk in the studio while on Breakfast Republic as a result.

"When I had my first kid, my husband was at home a lot and I went back to work very quickly after the birth of my kid. It's just making decisions in different times of your life... now I'm in a very good place where the timing of my job means I can be home in the afternoons for my kids. You do the best you can."

"My biggest regret with my first kid was not taking enough time," she continued. "Like I was leaking breastmilk in the studio with the two lads and you [Lottie]. Because we put this pressure on ourselves that we have to keep going and we can't take that time."

Jen went on to say that she always felt she was sacrificing something in order to keep her plates spinning. However, she says she's in a much better place now and advised Lottie to always put herself first going forward into her life as a working mum.

"The most important person that you have to look after - for everybody's sake - is yourself. You do what you feel is right for you and your family and not what is expected externally or what you think is expected."

"You can have it all, but not at the same time," she insisted. "You have to allow yourself to be a mother, allow yourself to be a broadcaster, allow yourself to be a friend - there are times for that.

"Unfortunately, they can't happen at the same time because that's unrealistic and there aren't enough hours in a day and that's where women fall into a trap and feel that pressure."
