Operation Transformation host Kathryn Thomas is back to spearhead the latest campaign to get the nation moving. Once again, the OT team are encouraging the Irish public to get up, get active and get healthy. Over the course of the series, we'll be giving the nation the tools they need to get moving, lose weight and feel great.
Returning to set the health and wellness plan for the new leaders is fitness coach Karl Henry; principal clinical psychologist Dr. Eddie Murphy; dietitian Aoife Hearne and general practitioner Dr. Sumi Dunne.

On tonight's programme, the first-ever OT Virtual 5K will take place where everyone across the country can participate along their own individual route. If you want to take part between February 18th-20th, check out Frank Greally of Athletics Ireland and John Treacy of Sport Ireland's guide to signing up at rte.ie/ot.
OT 2021 leader Sharon Gaffney and OT fitness expert Karl Henry joined Ray D'Arcy on RTÉ Radio 1 to discuss the show. While on air, Sharon spoke about her progress four weeks in, and how she has incorporated daily walks into her work routine at the Royal Victoria Eye and Ear hospital.
"I get in more steps during that day now that I have did before. I get in my walks out at lunch from the hospital, I got out for a small tea break to get a few more steps, I use the stairs a lot more and then when I come home, depending on whether I have to do resistance or cardio training, I just make it my time. That's what I never did before."

Speaking on the virtual 5k, Karl told Ray that he has great plans to get the whole country involved in this year's socially distant event: "We're going to get Ireland running."
"Normally, we're limited to 5,000 people in the Phoenix Park - which sells out every year with people looking for entry. This year, we want people to run virtually, socially distant, over those three days - the 18th, 19th and 20th of February. We want people to do their 5k with the hashtag #WearRed.
"This is probably going to be the biggest fitness event ever in the country," he added. "That's one of the benefits of it being virtual. You can run 5k from your home, socially distant, and you train over the eight weeks of the show just like our leaders have."
"We want this to be visible. We want to see photos, videos, content sent into us across all the Operation Transformation social media platforms and we'll create that community and show that people are out doing this."
