Earlier this week, on Today with Maura and Dáithí, roving-reporter John Sharpson visited Smithfield, an area on the north side of Dublin, to find out how the city is celebrating Chinese New Year.
Established in 2008, the Dublin Chinese New Year Festival has worked to celebrate, promote and deepen the understanding of the Sino/Irish relationship. This year's programme looks to be no different as organisers celebrate The Year of the Rat, marking the 13th year of this internationally recognised festival.
The on-going Spring Festival has an exceptional exciting programme, with events taking place across multiple venues in the city from January 24th to February 10th. Attendees will be offered a range of activities including a Cantonese banquet, talks and seminars, film screenings, markets, workshops, and stand up comedy.
