Are you expecting a little bundle of joy in the new year? If so, we have no doubt you've been scribbling down potential baby names at every turn. The pressure to name a human being for life is no joke - a million little things must be taken into consideration, future nicknames depend on it!

So, to make things a little easier, we're sharing the baby names that experts predict will be popular in 2020.

Nameberry, an American website that celebrates all things baby names, was created by experts Pamela Redmond and Linda Rosenkrantz, co-authors of ten groundbreaking books on - you guessed it - baby names.

In the new year, the ladies predict that the top names in the US will include rediscovered vintage names as well as names imported from around the world - many of which come from Ireland.

By calculating which names on the website saw the biggest increases in views by readers over the past year, Pamela and Linda have created a comprehensive list for boys and girls in 2020 - you can view it in full here.

To give you an idea of their selections, we've listed some of the names below along with their descriptions:

Alistair
With many British names invading the Yankee name pool, the sophisticated Alistair could and should be part of the next wave. It debuted in the US Top 1000 in 2016.
