The Rotunda, the beloved docu-series following the ecstatic highs and devastating lows of the world's longest-running maternity hospital, is always an emotional watch. And tonight's final looks to be no different.
In the last episode of The Rotunda, 18-year-old Jake is overjoyed at becoming a daddy, all feels a connection with his newborn the minute he cuts the cord with partner Alex:
"Once I cut the cord, that connection was there. It's weird to explain but when it comes out, it doesn't feel like it but when you cut the cord... that's what dad's do, I'm a dad."
Elsewhere, Natasha and Andrew are preparing for the arrival of twins but the possibility of one of the babies having Cystic Fibrosis like their first child is never far from their minds.
Another mum-to-be whose feeling the nerves is Kate. Her last pregnancy resulted in the premature delivery of her first baby and a lengthy stay in the Neo-Natal ICU, will her second pregnancy manage to make it to full term?
Finally, Alan and Stacey-Jean talk about how struggling with fertility seeped into the rest of their lives. While attending a wedding, the couple found out that Stacey's sister-in-law was pregnant and although they were delighted for the expecting mother, the couple found themselves tearing up later on in the night.
"It's a cold world out there if you can't have kids," says Alan.
Watch The Rotunda tonight at 9.30pm on RTÉ2.
