The Rotunda goes behind the scenes at the world's longest-running maternity hospital, where close to one million Dubliners have been born and some 24 new babies are added to that number every day.
Tonight, in the Delivery Ward, we meet a group of expectant parents, each on their own rollercoaster of emotions. While Kayleigh is hoping she will break the family tradition of always having C-section deliveries, Zosia is determined to have as little intervention as possible in the birth of her first baby.
Elsewhere, parents Samantha and Anto come in for radical laser treatment in an effort to save the lives of their unborn twins. On tonight's episode, viewers will watch cutting edge treatment for twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome.
A camera is put inside the uterus of Sam who is pregnant with identical twins to allow doctors to use lasers treatment. Watch a preview above.
Meanwhile, in Theatre, Lorraine gratefully remembers the donor who donated their kidney to her which has enabled her to have children of her own.
"My kidneys had never grown from birth, but they didn't find this out until I was nine. So, when I went to my GP, I was very sick and they didn't know, basically, how I was still alive. By the time I got to Temple Street, I was in ICU that night for three weeks and it just went from there."
Thankfully, at the age of 10, Lorraine received a donor kidney and underwent a successful transplant.
"The lifespan of a transplant, they say, is 10 years. I have mine for 24 years. So for that, let's hope it still continues to go for another 24 or maybe double that until such time that I have to leave and my kidney comes with me."
On a lighter note, tonight's episode looks into the ghost stories that have been haunting the hospital's halls...
The Rotunda has been in operation since 1745 and some believe it to be haunted by the friendly ghost of Sister Sarah - watch the video above.
The Rotunda continues Thursday at 9.35pm on RTÉ2.
