Irish teen's creation wins him a year's supply of chocolate

Cadbury announces their new chocolate bar, and we're all ears

Who among us didn't dream of visiting Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory, sampling sweets and dreaming up their own chocolatey creations?

Well, one Irish teenager has nabbed a golden ticket by winning Cadbury's competition to create a brand new chocolate bar flavour.

The Cadbury Innovator competition has been won by County Roscommon teenager, Callum Clogher, from Ballygar, who beat out 220,000 applicants from across the UK and Ireland.

A decadent mix of chocolate, vanilla and biscuit, Callum named his creation 'Choca-latte', which was voted as the winner by the hungry public.

The runner ups were Melanie, a 44-year-old teacher from Manchester who made a 'Raspberry Shortcake' chocolate bar flavoured with raspberry, chocolate and shortcake, and Neelam, a 25-year-old from Leeds created whose 'Simply the Zest' bar was made up of orange chocolate, caramel and biscuit.

The three bars were on the shelves jostling for buyers' attention between June until August. Callum's winning bar will now be on the shelves beginning this month for a whole year.

And his prize? A £1,000 voucher, as well as free chocolate for the year - we think Augustus Gloop would approve.

Speaking to Jennifer Zamparelli on RTÉ2fm the chocolate creator said that, even better than the winning prize, the competition offered him his first trip out of the country.

"They brought myself and the other two finalists over to a chocolate factory in Birmingham to give us the full-scale tour and we got to see our bars being put into production," he explained.

"It was my first time out of the country," he continued. "It was surreal."

Just as impactful as the chocolate creating experience, the support Callum received from his local community and beyond has left a mark on him.

Louis Walsh even helped the 17-year-old rally more support in his community by visiting him in his home in Co. Roscommon.
