Blind Tennis: A new sport for the visually impaired

With the help of Lottery funding, Blind Tennis is a relatively new but fast developing sport. In fact, last year history was made at the Shankill Tennis Club in Dublin when thirteen countries from around the world competed in the World Blind Tennis Championships.

The tournament was rated a huge success with over 60 players taking part. Tournament Director and President of Leinster Tennis, Mr. Liam O’Donohoe said: " We set out to deliver an exceptional tournament experience for our players from around the world.  The standard of competition and the support from the army of volunteers meant that we achieved all of our objectives and more."

To find out more about the sport, Winning Streak went along to The National Tennis Centre in DCU earlier this week to check out the players in action. Watch them in the video above.
