The School Digital Champion Programme offers secondary school students a unique opportunity to take part in an exciting programme that enables them to develop their creativity, critical thinking, and communications skills.
The 2019 showcase will take place on Thursday, May 2nd, at the Foundry innovation center at Google Ireland. The annual event will feature a Samsung Interactive Space, Google Cardboard, a video challenge, project stands, as well as talks and presentations from a number of guests, including Samsung, YouTube, and minister Seán Canney.
RTÉ's own Carl Mullan will take to the stage to speak about his role across RTÉ's Digital Platforms and to introduce teams to chat about their projects.
"The main thing I'll be there to do is to introduce some of the talkers on the day," Carl told RTÉ LifeStyle.
"These include Shrini Kalwad from Google who will be talking about Internet Safety, a Google Team career path panel, Quentin Doran O'Reilly who is the head of product management at Samsung Electronics Ireland, as well as Alice Frantz and Can Ekim who will be giving a Youtube Team Talk."
"I will also be talking to the students about my own work in RTÉ - specifically about how a couple of short online viral videos have led to me becoming a full-time content creator for the organisation," he continued.
"I'll talk to the students about the work I do as well as the thought process behind our projects. I'll also be talking to the students about RTÉ's digital platforms and the changing landscape of media consumption."
The Digital School Champion initiative of the Department of Communications Climate Action and Environment, the Department of Education and Skills is supported by RTÉ.
