But, one thing my family needs to do is burn off the extra calories. Fortunately, the weather thus far has been good, but the forecast for the rest of the holidays includes some showers. So, in our weekly guide, we've included a mix of indoor and outdoor events that should cover all eventualities.

1) Kilfenora Traditional Music Festival
The 11th annual traditional music festival takes place this weekend with great concerts, céilís, CD launches, Trad for Teens workshop, pub sessions. The Kilfenora Céilí Band host a free céilí in the Square on Sunday afternoon, and Frankie Gavin’s Roaring Twenties Irish Orchestra headline the main concert on Saturday night.
2) Spring Festival | Slieve Aughty Centre
Running every day over Easter in Loughrea with loads of fun activities, including the Enchanted Forest, pony rides, playground, go karts, nature hut, arts, and crafts room, and the Easter Bunny has left clues to win a treat!
3) Funderland Cork
Funderland has been entertaining the crowds over Easter at the old Creamfields site on the Tramore Road with the usual array of thrilling attractions for a fun, family day out. They will run daily until April 28th.
4) Red Mountain Open Farm
Red Mountain Open Farm is open until Sunday with plenty of activities in their large open barns so regardless of the weather, you’re guaranteed to have a good time! They have some limited discount tickets available for this weekend too.
5) The Ark Workshop
Everyone loves playing Xs and Os! This fun filled workshop on Saturday morning is for every child who likes to work with clay and loves board games, children aged 5-7 can invent their own clay game pieces and make a unique game board using mixed media. Monsters vs heroes, ladybirds vs spiders or suns vs moons! What’s it going to be?
Arrive early and visit the Game Plan: Board Games Rediscovered! The exhibition featuring different board games from around the world.
6) Everyman Cork | So You Think You Know About Dinosaurs?
Go on an exciting pre-historic adventure as Dr. Ben Garrod talks you through the deadliest predators that ever roamed the planet in an interactive, educational and highly entertaining show that pits unwitting parents against their all-knowing kids.
7) The Source Arts Centre | Egg & Spoon
This Friday morning in Thurles, children up to five will be introduced to the magic of interactive theatre as they run through the rain and the falling leaves and sleep under the snow until the sun wakes us up for the butterfly party.
8) Hawk's Well Theatre | Bluegrass Babies
Musicians Leon Mooney and Leslie Jones will delight and enchant babies, parents and grandparents alike on Sunday with a rich musical experience that introduces children to a gentle selection of music.
9) Riverbank Arts Centre | Science Workshop
A fun workshop on Saturday as part of STEAM by the Future Makers Collective focusing on exploring vision and perception with optical devices, lenses and exploring animal and insect vision. The workshop for 7-9-year-olds is on from 10:30-12:00 with 10-13-year-olds from 13:00-15:00.
10) West Waterford Festival of Food
The West Waterford Festival of Food returns to Dungarvan and the surrounding area in west Waterford this weekend with a full programme of events and activities including lunch, dinner, talks, blind tastings, food trails, workshops and lots of children's activities.
11) Carnegie Arts Centre | Bedtime Stories
A hilarious new play, Bedtime Stories - As Told By Our Dad Who Messed Them Up will entertain the whole family in Kenmare this Saturday evening.
It's Dad's turn to tell the bedtime stories, but he doesn't remember the details very well. You may think you know fairy tales, but not the way this Dad tells them.
12) National Botanic Gardens
Visit the National Botanic Gardens this Sunday for the last of their Easter Drop-By activities. Go along at 11am, 11.30am, 3.00pm, or 3.30pm for some fun springtime garden activities, plant some lovely leeks to bring home with you. Meet at the Children's Education Garden and it is of charge.
13) Irish Heritage Park | Tour Guide for a Day
Does your child have the gift of the gab? This fun workshop on Saturday will teach the essentials to be a great tour guide, then you can return and listen to them give their first ever tour! Suitable for children 8 to 13, the course runs from 10am to 4pm and includes a family pass.
