Dublin has been named as the best-rated destination in Ireland for tourists in Trip Advisor’s annual Travellers’ Choice Awards for destinations.
Hayley Coleman, a TripAdvisor spokesperson, said: "The Travellers’ Choice Destination awards recognise the world’s most beloved travel spots, based on feedback from the TripAdvisor community."
While in Dublin, the site suggested that visitors check out Glasnevin Cemetery Museum, Chester Beatty Library, and Kilmainham Gaol.

Despite our country's undeniable beauty and world-renowned craic, we failed to make the cut for the global rankings which saw London jump from second place in 2018 to number one in 2019.
"The international excitement around the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle no doubt spurred interest in the capital and helped boost it to the top spot in this year’s rankings," continued Haley.

Unfortunately, Ireland also failed to make the best-rated destinations in Europe which saw London reach the top spot, followed by Paris, Rome, Crete and Barcelona.
"The global fascination with Harry and Meghan clearly has a powerful effect as this is the first time since 2016 that London has topped the world rankings," Hayley explained.
