Rosie Huntington-Whiteley breaks down her daily skincare routine

The model says she has always suffered with spots.
The model says she has always suffered with spots.

"There is nothing better than having good skin," says Rosie Huntington-Whiteley in her latest YouTube video, and who can argue with that?

While on the red carpet or in fashion shoots it may look like the model has a flawless complexion, in reality, she says she is constantly plague by spots.

"I get a lot of people asking me what my skin type is," she continues. "Well, on a good day, I would say I probably have just a couple of spots and on a bad day it can be a lot."

"I’ve always had a little bit of acne and it’s something that my mum had and it’s something that I’m always trying to better, and so I’m quite diligent about my skincare routine," the 31-year-old says, explaining that at the moment she’s avoiding eggs and dairy in her diet because she believes they have a negative impact on her skin.

The British beauty also says that she tailors her skincare routine to fight acne and minimise oiliness: "I have oily skin, and so that’s one thing that I’m always trying to keep in check and use the right products to support that."

Clearly, it’s working, because in photos her skin always looks dewy and fresh but never greasy.

Do you also battle adult acne, oily skin, or both? Well, you’re in lucky, because Huntington-Whiteley has shared, for the first time, her entire evening skincare routine and it’s full of helpful tips and products for effectively cleansing and hydrating.

Ready to be schooled on supermodel skincare? Here’s the step-by-step breakdown…

1. Eye make-up remover
Hungtington-Whitely starts by removing her mascara using a cotton pad soaked in Bioderma Sensibio H20 Micellar Water (€12.29, Boots), a gentle but effective product she learned about backstage at a fashion show 10 years ago.

If she has any stubborn make-up she’ll go back in with a little coconut oil like Kopari Beauty Coconut Balm.

2. Cleanser
To begin cleansing, the model soaks a face cloth in warm water and uses it to gently start taking off her foundation, then applies iS Clinical Warming Honey Cleanser, which she says is like washing your face with honey and is great for "problematic skin types like mine".

After massaging the product in thoroughly she uses her damp face cloth again to remove the residue and the rest of her make-up.

3. Rose water
After cleansing, Huntington-Whiteley uses a cotton pad to apply rose water all over her face. The model mum uses a brand called Santa Maria Novella

"Rose water, as everyone knows, is really, really hydrating and cooling," she says.

4. Serum
After popping on some lip balm, the model takes about six drops of iS Clinical Super Serum Advance+, rubs them between her palms and smooths it all over her face. This potent serum contains vitamin C for brightening.

"I love serums and I absolutely love them during the day," she explains. "At the end of my working day, while I’m at home, I just like to have a serum on my skin because I feel like it soaks in. Moisturisers sometimes for me can be a bit heavy."

5. Eye cream
Huntington-Whiteley is the face of BareMinerals and says she is "absolutely obsessed" with the SkinLongevity Vital Power Gel Eye Cream because it’s "soft and gentle and very, very cooling."

The model recommends using your ring finger to dab the product on so that you don’t pull at the delicate eye area.

6. Essence
Hungtington-Whiteley finishes with a generous spritz of Tata Harper Essence Florale Hydratante.

Inspired by Korean skincare, this light mist adds extra hydration and a dewy finish so it’s ideal in place of a moisturising cream.
