Speaking to RTÉ LifeStyle ahead of the Vodafone Comedy Carnival, Reginald D Hunter discusses his favourite food, first car and what he's working on next.
The comedian broke his leg a few months ago but still turned up for his interview with us in RTÉ on time, on crutches and in flying form to be back in Ireland again.
What are your plans for 2018?
There is a good chance that I will be making a second music documentary. There is a good chance that I'll finally get off my ass and look into finding a hobby. I'm looking forward to getting my leg fully healthy and regaining my great speed.
I have another tour coming up next year, it's going to be called the same as this [Some People v. Reginald D Hunter] but I just can't see how the jokes will be the same, because I just keep hearing lots of stuff and I'm kind of smart, so we'll see how that goes.
Do you cook? What's your favourite food to make?
I don't cook regularly now as I'm working a lot and extremely lazy afterwards but yeah I make, probably, the finest homemade - straight from scratch - pancake that you've ever tasted.
I don't do it much now because when I used to make pancakes regularly it ended up causing a lot of, you know, consternation and division in people and I try to unite people so I stopped making the pancakes.
I make a pretty mean homemade deep dish pizza where I put a layer of dough on top of the pizza and then sauce.
I like to think that next year when I get a new place and have more of a kitchen area and more time and I'm a little less concerned with world events and stuff that I'll get back to cooking again[...].
Where is left on your travel bucket list and where do you love to return time and time again?
Oh, there's lots of places I love going to. I consider several places on my patrol route. Amsterdam is on my patrol route, Paris.
All of Ireland is on my patrol route. I love doing that.
I haven't done any comedy in Japan, I want to see what that's like [...] and where else... oh, Canada! I wish Canada was more on my route and America too in that regard, I don't really work much in America.
What was your first car? Not the one below?!
A blue four-door Sierra Pontiac.
You've appeared on a lot of panel shows over the years. Recently, Aisling Bea spoke about fighting tooth and nail to make a panel show gender balanced for an entire series, which she says has brought about positive changes. Have you noticed these changes yourself?
I took a break from panel shows about a year or two years ago, and the break has included not watching much of them so I haven't seen much.
I think there needs to be a balance of interesting, erudite, outspoken people, no matter what their gender is.
I'm just sick of seeing people misplaced or miscast as to appropriate our sense of fairness or equality based on gender or colour, but I mean... I guess I'm saying the long way around that I haven't watched enough to say that I have an opinion.
Reginald D Hunter plays the Vodafone Comedy Carnival in Galway on Saturday, 28th of October.
