Last week, Mary abseiled down the side of a building - this was a huge achievement as she has a fear of heights. However, once on the ground Mary celebrated with a glass of prosecco which Dr. Ciara Kelly was not happy about.

"Alcohol has a massive detrimental effect on your mental well being, it's a depressant, on your energy levels and your calorie intake. It's pretty much, lets just be honest, bad for us and we hate hearing it".

"My issue was, I saw you skulling a glass of prosecco, whilst knowing that you have said to me before you used alcohol as a crutch.

"Whilst knowing, that you have as part of your social life gone out and go out and have five, six, seven pints or whatever...

"A woman drinking seven pints is fourteen units of alcohol, it's more than you can drink safely in a week and you're drinking it in four hours. My issue is... I just don't have it in me not to say it".

In reaction to this, Mary told Ciara that she doesn't have a problem with alcohol, she has alcoholism down through her family and is aware of it and is constantly on the look out.

"I don't have an issue with alcohol. It doesn't mean that I didn't many many moons away, in 1995 when my brother passed away and I did turn to alcohol and it runs in my family."

Mary added: "But at this point in time. I don't. I'm aware of my whole being where alcohol is concerned."

She spoke about how she has suffered from depression and admits that if she does go out and have a great time, that yes the following day she will suffer afterwards.

"I know the difference with my depression and my alcohol. I know it affects me, it gives me mood swings...I know I haven't got a problem with drink."

Tonight on RTÉ One night we'll also discover that Mary is a bit of a hoarder...

"I've loads of bottles of different stuff, it's like I get an attachment to objects."

What else happened on The Ray D'Arcy show?
Oh, just that Dr. Ciara Kelly also spoke of how she has called on Minister Finian McGrath to resign.

"To me, a junior health minister that asks for the removal of a safe vaccine, that will save the lives of young women in this country, that we know, because there have been hundreds of millions of doses of this vaccine given Ray, that we know that this profile is good, that we had no problem with giving to our girls...

"To me, a junior health minister not on board with a public health initiative that saves women's lives, his position has become untenable."

Ciara spoke of how she feels that his grasp with health is inadequate and that he is unfit for the role. Listen to the full interview here:
