In this week's RTÉ Guide, model turned TV presenter, Glenda Gilson, chats to Janice Butler about the A-list interviews, finding her place on Irish TV and three years of marital bliss.
When she’s not jetting over and back to London or out to the TV3 studios in Ballymount, Glenda tries to switch off at home with her husband Rob, although she admits she’s not the best at detaching herself from work. "I’m highly-strung and a bit of a night owl but again it depends on what time you meet me – other times I could be calm and cool."
The couple got married three years ago this August in Kilrush, Co Clare but now it all seems like a blur, she admits.
"We look at each other and wonder how we got through that, the organisation of it while working full-time. I remember we’d come home and sit around the counter and it was like homework.
"I was glad to get back to normality after it because at the time people don’t talk to you about anything else. And I wasn’t one to go on about my dream wedding day so I was quite happy to have the fuss of it over
Speaking to Janice about her career, Glenda shared her favourite A-list celebrities to interview: "Meryl Streep was someone I was blown away by. She was really motherly and I don’t mean that in an ageist way at all but she was so encouraging.
"David Beckham was another great one. He stood up and shook my hand, and trust me, most of them don’t do that. He was a true gentleman and I told him that.
"Some of them don’t even look at you when you walk into the room until the camera is on.
"Michael Douglas was brilliant, so was Dustin Hoffman who gave a shout out to my mum. You often find the bigger A-list stars are the most down-to-earth."
