TV Presenter and famed LGBT YouTuber Riyadh Khalaf hosted BloggerConf 2017 at Dublin's Mansion House last Saturday and he shared his top tips for newbie bloggers with us.

It was the Riyadh's first experience hosting BloggerConf and we took the opportunity to chat to the presenter about his work including his inspirations, motivations and top tips for budding bloggers.

One of the reasons that Riyadh signed up to host the event was because he believed that bringing Ireland's tech-savvy bloggers and vloggers together to learn from one another would be a positive and inspiring experience.

"The stuff that happens at this [BloggerConf], it makes you realise 'Oh, I can do it and I can do it really well even from, you know, Ireland.' And I say 'even from Ireland' because a lot of YouTubers feel like they have to live in LA, they have to live in London but the joy of the internet is that you can showcase your talent and your content from anywhere in the world."

If you are an aspiring content creator, Riyadh has three top tips which he discusses fully in the video above.

  1. Only make content about things you care about. Find your niche and find an original angle within that niche
  2. Invest in good equipment even if it means holding off on creating content.
  3. Be nice. Keep your ego in check even when you're getting recognised on the street.

Don't be fooled by the pretty pictures ladies and gents, blogging is hard work. Constant content creation takes a lot of creativity, imagination and dedication.

Riyadh says that he stays motivated and inspired by the people around him whether it be interactions with family and friends or watching fellow YouTubers. His favourite media influencers range from YouTuber Jenna Marbles to presenter Graham Norton.

"Graham Norton is a massive inspiration for me because I want his job one day!"
