Top 3 Reasons to Watch The Zoo

Now in its seventh season, The Zoo has become a staple TV show for a Sunday evening. Every week the camera crew bring us behind the scenes of Dublin Zoo and we are hooked.

Here are three reasons to tune in. As if you needed them.

Location, Location, Location
This season we have stepped outside the Phoenix Park in order to follow the zookeepers as they visit some of the Irish and international conservation projects supported by Dublin Zoo. From elephants in the Republic of the Congo to Hedgehog Rescue in Dublin - this show has it all.

The Animals
Yes, we all love elephants and tigers and gorillas but The Zoo introduces us to so many more fascinating creatures. Meerkats, two-toed sloths, southern white rhinoceroses, green tree pythons, Asian leaf turtles, red pandas, red river hogs, African painted dogs, scimitar-horned oryx... The list goes on!

The Zoo Keepers
Not only do they have the best jobs in the world but Helen Clarke-Bennett and her team at Dublin zoo are completely dedicated to the animals at the zoo.

Throughout the series, we see Helen visit the Republic of the Congo to visit a project dedicated to helping protect forest elephants and Western lowland gorillas while the zookeepers come to the aid of a lion cub with an injured leg and a Sumatran tiger with a toothache.
