Fancy mixing up your morning routine? Skip the gym, forget the coffee and head to an early morning rave in Dublin's Andrews Lane at 6.30am to shake off those cobwebs. Organiser William O'Meara spoke to RTÉ LifeStyle about what lies ahead.
What's happening with Morning Gloryville this year?
Rise & Rave was all set to be the new version of the Morning Gloryville morning rave, Dublin's favorite morning party before you jet off to work. However, since it's launch, I have taken Morning Gloryville back on and merging the two events under Morning Gloryville going forward.
The first event will be very similar to what people experienced before but after that, we are mixing things up. Daring to do a weekend event and some very controversial themes that will really get people's heads turning.
Why do you think they do so well in Ireland?
I think there is a demand for events like Morning Gloryville Dublin that allow you to try something different. Sober events have been around a while such as Soda Bread Box or Funky Seomra but it's hard to convince people that they are worthwhile, people need to be kept busy and distracted at these events to make sure they have fun!
I think the next generation are definitely more aware of being able to do something without getting wrecked!!
You recently came back to Ireland, was it due to this event?
I have been traveling around the globe for fourteen months and decided that running it while I was away would prove rather impossible.
Who is this event for?
Your regular bRaver (brave to rave) is someone who is interested in a conscious clubbing experience. An alternative to going out to get ruined and feeling terrible the next day. It's a safe space to lose your inhibitions and meet some like minded people. We get a real broad spectrum of people.
You can see mothers bringing their kids before school and also see bunches of college students dancing about. It's very wellbeing-focused, there are healthy snacks available with free yoga and massage to boot!
There really is something for everyone....oh yeah, and an epic banging dancefloor!
Have past events been a success?
The event makes money, for sure! It takes a lot or work to put something like this together. There is a team that has to be recruited, yoga teachers, massage therapists, DJ's, MC's, venue decor and that's only the start of it before you even consider the task of getting an event like this out there!
Some make a little and some make a little more. I will say there are better ways to make money but when you see the smiles on people skipping out the door to work, it makes me the happiest person alive!
Morning Gloryville took place on Wednesday, 22nd of February at 6:30 am in Hangar, Saint Andrew's Lane, Dublin.
The next Morning Gloryville will take place Saturday, March 25th - the first ever weekend event!
