RTÉ is gearing up for another exciting BT Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition in the RDS in Dublin this week and this year there will be a brand-new RTÉ/Samsung Virtual Reality Experience.

The three-day exhibition kicks off this Thursday January 12th until Saturday January 14th and in addition to live broadcasts, events, presenter Q&A's and  activities there will also be the 360-degree VR experience.

How will it work?
RTÉ has teamed up with Samsung to give over 50,000 visitors at BTYSTE 2017 the chance to go behind-the-scenes
during a number of broadcasts including RTÉ News: One O’Clock and RTÉ 2fm’s Tracy Clifford Show - all using cutting edge VR technology.

What else does RTÉ have planned for BTYSTE2017?

The Nicky Byrne Show with Jenny Greene
on RTÉ 2fm will kick-start this year’s BTYSTE with a live broadcast from 10am to 1pm on Thursday, followed by Bláthnaid Ní Chofaigh live show on RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta from 3pm to 5pm.

On Friday, Mo K brings the beats to the RDS on RTÉ Pulse at 10am, while Tracy Clifford will be live on RTÉ2FM at 1pm on Friday afternoon.

Rick O’Shea sees visitors and listeners through Saturday morning with his usual mix of music and chat, from 11am – 1pm on RTÉ2FM.

Today with Maura & Dáithí on RTÉ One will be reporting live from the RTÉ set on Thursday, featuring special guests. RTÉ2’s daily news bulletin, news2day will be reporting from the event on Thursday and Friday, including a report from the winner of the bulletin’s ‘Reporter for a Day’ competition.

Ever wanted to present the weather?
The RTÉ Weather and the Met Éireann teams will present morning and lunchtime bulletins at the RTÉ set each day of the event, live on RTÉ One, and budding meteorologists will have the chance to deliver the weather forecast each day with perennial favourite, Weather Wannabees.

RTÉ News will bring regular updates from the RDS across the event, while Nationwide on RTÉ One will report on previous winners on Wednesday 11th January at 7pm.

Following the success of previous years, RTÉ presenters, including Bryan Dobson, Miriam O’Callaghan and Eoghan McDermott will again be on hand to put the interview skills of BTYSTE participants to the test on the RTÉ set at 11am on Thursday and Friday.

RTÉjr’s Bug Hunter, Dr. Michel Dugon will return to give students and visitors a chance to get up close and personal with bugs, insects, creepy crawlies and will share plenty of stories of bug hunting expeditions from 12 to 4pm on Friday while RTÉjr’s Reuben will provide entertainment for younger visitors to the RDS on Saturday from 12.30 to 3.30pm.

Online, a live stream of the Awards Ceremony will be available to view on RTE.ie/lifestyle on Friday 13th January from 5.30pm and all RTÉ coverage from the event will be available to view through a special catch-up hub on RTÉ Player.
