RTÉ One has made Sunday evenings in January a little more merciful with the great new drama Striking Out to keep us entertained! The first episode aired on New Years Day and it did not disappoint. Following the tumultuous professional and personal life of Dublin-based solicitor Tara Rafferty, played by Amy Huberman, Striking Out is a snapshot of contemporary life in Ireland as Tara’s hen night ends painfully when she finds her fiancé (and co-worker/son of her boss) Eric Dunbar in bed with a colleague. Leaving her fiancée, quitting her job and setting up her own practice, Tara discovers that she is more than capable of being on her own – both personally and professionally.
