12 Poses to a New You: Day 10 - Reclined Twist

Day 10: Reclined Twist (Jathara Parivartanasana).
Day 10: Reclined Twist (Jathara Parivartanasana).

Physically, what’s it good for?

  • Lengthens, extends and rotates the mid part of the spine – the Thoracic Spine.
  • Takes us out of the forward and rounded position we can fall into during the day at a desk!
  • Builds lung capacity.

Reclined twist can be a deeper and progressive twist from our Seated Twist on Day 6 of the ’12 Poses of Christmas’. Lovely at the end of a busy day following Cat/Cow Pose (Day 7). is an excellent pose to address the restricted and dysfunctional areas that can develop after a day spent looking after kids or bent over a computer, or shopping! Once in position, stay there for 6 deep breaths. Have a go both sides and let me know what you think.
