Amy Huberman's brand new show Striking Out will be hitting our screens in the new year. We caught up with the actress to find out how she's been balancing her work and home life and what advice she can offer other working mums!
Amy is one part of Ireland's most enviable couple, she has been with long-time love and rugby superstar Brian O'Driscoll since 2006. The couple married in 2010 before becoming parents to daughter Sadie and son Billy.
Throughout this time, Amy has worked steadily starring in shows such as Threesome, Can't Cope Won't Cope and now the brand new RTÉ series Striking Out. Not only that but Amy has her own Newbridge jewellery collection, a beautiful shoe line and she is rumoured to be opening a yoga studio. Phew!
So how does she do it?! Amy says it's all about perspective.
"I'm a believer in whatever works for you. And whatever works for you may change on a daily basis, on a weekly basis, because life is always changing and your set of circumstances are always changing."
The actress admits that she's in a very lucky position because she loves what she does for a living but that doesn't mean that she hasn't had her bad days.
Amy says that while at work she would feel guilty for not being with her family and while with her family she would worry that she wasn't focused enough on her work. A sentiment that I'm sure many a working mum can recognise!
The best advice Amy can offer?
"I know it seems really simple and it's this thing that we always try to tell ourselves to just try and be where you are but like, you know, I can beat myself up as well as the next person and be on set and go 'oh, maybe I should be at home' and then the flipside as well but just try and where you're at and just enjoy that part of it!"
Watch the first episode of Striking Out on RTÉ One on New Years Day at 9.30pm.
