We caught up with Nicky Byrne today to talk about Dancing with the Stars and one other very important night in Irish television... The Toy Show.
As soon as we heard that Dancing with the Stars was coming to Ireland we immediately started guessing as to who would be stepping into their dancing shoes to dance-battle it out this January. Today we had some huge news from the show and while we're still waiting to find out who will be waltzing across our screens in the New Year, we did find out that the dynamic duo of Nicky Byrne and Amanda Byram will be hosting!
Nicky has described Dancing with the Stars as being his Late Late Show - the big show he always wanted to present. Plus he's also a big Toy Show fan and thinks that Ryan Tubridy did a brilliant job presenting it last Friday night. (Missed it? Catch up on the RTÉ Player here). The presenter says he loves watching the show and he's a big fan of Christmas time with his family.
I love watching it...I have kids, two boys are nine and a half and my little girl is three and I think childhood is kind of shrinking at the moment and they're getting older quicker!
Nicky said that while he thinks Ryan did a fantastic job this year, he won't be expecting Santa to bring all of those toys to his house this Christmas as one or two presents is more than enough.
"Kids need to realise that Santa, although he's magic, they can't have everything! And I think that it's nice to get out there and visit Santa Clause and get your little surprise, maybe write a little letter with one or two things on there and maybe a surprise and if you're good, we all know what happens when you're good!"
