The world of science came to the forefront last week as Science Week, a national, annual event that celebrates the fascinating worlds of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) took place around Ireland. The last of the events are on Sunday, 20th November but, if you feel you may have missed out, RTÉ Player has got you covered with a host of exclusive content still available. Watch Rick O’Shea’s unique interview series, Science and Me, where he speaks to Áine Lawlor, Mark Pollock, UK Editor of Mashable and author of Science Week Documentary, Cloud Control: Who Owns Your Data, Anne-Marie Tomchak and comedian and television presenter, Dara Ó Briain among others. Written by Barry Devlin and set in Northern Ireland during World War Two, My Mother and Other Strangers follows the fortunes of the Coyne family and their neighbours as they struggle to maintain a normal life after a huge United States Army Air Force (USAAF) airfield with 4,000 service men and women lands in the middle of their rural parish in 1943. At the heart of the series is an ongoing love story that enfolds Rose and her husband Michael Coyne in a dangerous love triangle with a handsome and charming USAAF liaison officer, Captain Dreyfuss.
