Luke Fitzgerald is currently completing his business degree at University College Dublin. The former Leinster/Irish player retired from professional rugby in June 2016 due to injury. He sustained a neck injury during the Guinness PRO12 Final against Connacht and was advised to retire from rugby on medical grounds.
The twenty-nine-year-old has recently become an ambassador for Yoplait's 'I Love My Age' campaign which aims to highlight the good in every age. A campaign that seems fitting for someone who has hit retirement before his thirtieth birthday.
“Right now, I’m 29, and I’ve certainly seen that every age brings its own challenges, but unique opportunities too. My rugby career had its ups and downs with injuries but I’ve had plenty of high points on the international stage too, and now I’m looking ahead to a completely new challenge within the next phase of my career. For me, life is about embracing the present, and looking ahead to the future with a positive perspective on life.”
We caught up with the rugby star to find out why he decided to become an ambassador for the campaign.
"I just finished my ruby career, and I've kind of got to go into another career now and re-invent myself a bit"

Luke explains how his lifestyle has changed with age.
"My lifestyle was an awful lot different, where I went straight into a job from school, and it's a well paid job albeit for a very short period of time and when you come out of it then you have to catch up with everyone else."

So, what's left on Luke Fitzgerald's bucket list?
"I think I might like to live outside of Ireland for a little bit and see what's that like because I've lived in Ireland my whole life and it would be really exciting to try out another place and start afresh somewhere new."
