If you look up the word 'dedication' in the dictionary, a picture of Jenny Greene will come up. She returned from her honeymoon yesterday, and swapped sun-bathing for sheep shearing at this year's Ploughing Championships. She was there with her RTÉ 2fm co-presenter Nicky Byrne and we spoke to the pair about how it feels to be at Ireland's biggest event.
They were hanging out with the big guns, like Paul O'Connell, which Nicky said, "was pretty amazing to have such an iconic sporting legend."
He joked: "Jenny wasn’t really on the top of her game today, I’m not going to lie to you!"
Nicky was teasing his co-presenter as the Ploughing was her first show on 2fm since her break: "She’s back from Mauritius yesterday, and she came back, down to the Ploughing, you can see her tan, look at that tan!"
However for Jenny, Screggan in Tullamore, where the Ploughing Championships are taking place, have nothing on her sunny holiday. Seemingly feeling the holiday blues, Jenny wanted to bring a bit of sunshine to the ploughing when she said:
I was going to do a bikini and wellies today but I decided against it, but I may be holding off on them … for Thursday.
Nicky and Jenny will be there at the championships tomorrow and Nicky is looking forward to seeing a few familiar faces:
We’re going to be in the RTÉ tent on Thursday, we’re really looking forward to that, I don’t know who’s going to be joining us yet but it’s always going to be a bit of an adventure. I’m sure Marty Morrissey is going to be rolling around, Nuala Carey’s usually there, we’d Áine Lawlor last year, she was my favourite person we had on the show last year, so who knows who’ll be popping in? And we might both be in our bikinis.
Well, you heard it first here folks. If you go down to the RTÉ tent, at Block 2, Row 13 you could see Jenny and Nicky in their bikinis and wellies! Whatever happens Nicky did promise that "we'll both be doing selfies", so that's something!
