Irish weather knows no limits, bounds or rules. You can't really rely on it, but it helps to have an idea of what to expect.
We spoke to RTÉ's resident weather reporter, Nuala Carey, to find out what to expect at the Ploughing.
The Weather.
The first day of the Championships is welcoming us with dry, open arms. Nuala told us that "the indications are that Tuesday will be mainly dry" - success!
However, that's not set to last. On Wednesday, "there will be some wet and windy weather coming across from the west, so I’m crossing my fingers now that it won’t arrive in the faithful county until quite late in the day, but, there is a chance".
Looks like wellies for everyone on Wednesday, then.
Thursday, the last and final day, "after a dry start, looks like showers. So I’d say be dressed for some mixed weather". So we're really getting a bit of everything. Let's hope the rain holds off for as long as possible!

The People.
Everyone knows that the ploughing draws in huge crowds annually. Last year saw almost 300,000 people turn up - Ireland's biggest event! The people who go, who work and who are involved in the championships are an integral part of this traditional event. For Nuala, this is her favourite part of the 3 day celebration of all things farming and agricultural, "my favourite thing about the whole National Ploughing Championships is the people that we meet".
"At RTÉ we are very privileged that people allow us into their home 365 days a year, so I always think the least we could do is invite them back to our place! I’m really looking forward to meeting the people, and I meet a lot of the same people every year. They come in, they say hello. Makes me feel old, because I’m seeing children who were very young growing up, and they’re taller than me."
"So I would say to everybody I’m really looking forward to seeing you, and please call into the RTÉ marquee, which is at Block 2, row 13."
